SHIMA SEIKI brings digital sampling and production links to apparel sourcing week

The Bengaluru showcase will demonstrate how yarn-based simulations connect textile design, virtual prototypes and knitting-machine data.

Japan’s SHIMA SEIKI will present its APEXFiz Design software at Apparel Sourcing Week on October 7–8, 2026, in Bengaluru, India. The company will exhibit at booths SP23–SP24 at the Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center, with demonstrations focused on digital product creation.

From actual yarn to virtual prototype
APEXFiz is subscription-based software supporting fashion planning, textile design, fabric simulation and 3D virtual sampling for flat knitting. It uses scanned data from actual yarns to reproduce textile appearance in digital prototypes.

SHIMA SEIKI says these simulations can replace physical samples during product development, reducing sampling time, expenditure and material consumption. Its exhibition announcement provides no quantified savings or customer-specific performance results.

The system also connects with yarnbank, SHIMA SEIKI’s digital yarn-sourcing service. Registered users can download yarn data for simulation, avoiding the need to scan every yarn themselves. The service links visual development to yarns available for purchase and production.

Design data moves towards manufacturing
For flat-knit products, automatically generated knitting data can be converted into machine data once a design is approved. This provides a route from digital development to manufacturing rather than limiting virtual sampling to visual presentation.

APEXFiz also simulates woven fabrics, circular knits, printing and embroidery. SHIMA SEIKI reports that users combine its textile simulations with other 3D software, allowing the system to support development across several product categories.

Software access and training expand
Unlike earlier SDS-ONE APEX systems supplied as integrated hardware-and-software packages, APEXFiz can run on customers’ own computers. SHIMA SEIKI also offers online training through SHIMANAVI, with courses in different languages and learning available at users’ own pace.

The company’s current product page lists version V-10 as released on September 14, 2026, although the Bengaluru announcement does not specify which version will be demonstrated.

For sourcing teams and manufacturers, the practical test will be how accurately digital approvals translate into finished fabrics and garments—and how many sampling rounds the workflow removes before production.
