A union of domestic women workers along with six garment workers federations has formed a new trade union named ‘Trade Union Platform for Migrant Workers’ for upholding the rights of migrant workers.
“The platform has also elected an 11-member governing council for conducting its activities for the next two years,” a press release stated.

Other founding members of the platform are the Bangladesh Independent Garment Workers Union Federation, the Bangladesh Revolutionary Garments Workers Federation, the Sammilita Garments Sramik Federation, the Akota Garments Worker Federation, the Garment Sramik Sanghati Federation and the National Domestic Women Workers Union.
The platform also has four associate founding members, but have no voting power.
