Barbie takes the fashion world by storm

World’s leading brands rarely come up to support a theme as happened with Barbie fever where 13 of the best fashion brands introduced their Barbie collections for their customers. It coincided with the release of the Barbie movie by its owner Mattel.

We have been living in a Barbie world for a while now. Of more than 100 partnerships to celebrate Barbie are big brands like Zara and Primark to non-fashion names, such as Burger King and Uno.

Zara’s dreamy Barbie collection dropped at the beginning of the week, with some products selling out within hours of going live. The impressive 60-something-piece range spans across all of the retailer’s departments from clothing and accessories to homewares and stationery.

Primark has outdone itself once again with its latest Barbie branded collection, featuring 85 themed products. Packed with plenty of pink and neon green, the edit spans across womenswear, menswear, kidswear, and home. Shoppers can snap up affordable Barbie t-shirts, bucket hats, and lounge sets as well as velour hoodies, jelly sandals, and a throw blanket.

Barbie fever has officially hit Selfridges, with several activations live around its Oxford Street store and a pop-up at its Manchester location. Running until 29 July, The Corner Shop has been given a Barbie Dreamhouse-inspired makeover offering bookable Barbie-inspired hair and nail services, photo moments, and a host of Barbie and Ken-worthy shoppable items.

Gap leaned heavily into its American collegiate roots for its Barbie collection, which also included menswear and kidswear. The retailer said it was “entering its pink era” as it released a selection of logo hoodies, dresses, caps, bright pink and white graphic t-shirts adorned with the Barbie branding, and a ‘KEN’ t-shirt. Despite limited pieces of collection left available, the collab failed to excite some fans with shoppers complaining about its “basic” design.

Not one to miss out on a pop culture moment, Asos made sure it earned a place in the Barbie-mania craze. The retailer’s design team has reimagined the flirty light pink color palette for its womenswear collection, which also includes unisex styles, with the Barbie logo taking center stage on several t-shirts.

Boohoo has even gotten in on the action, releasing its limited edition collection designed to help you “live your dream life”. The collection, available in sizes 6 to 28, has been created with the iconic pink color palette with hints of whites and blacks.

Crocs, the fastest-growing brand of 2022, released its Barbie range last week in the US and sold out within hours. The collection, which is already available on Zalando and Schuh, is expected to hit Crocs’ UK online store on 24 July. Shoppers can bring out their existing Crocs with Barbie charms or snap up a pair of pink Cozzy sandals and crush clog. However, if you miss out on the official collection, there’s an equally drool-worthy pink selection of Crocs.

Aldo has taken inspiration from the magical world of Barbie with its branded collection supersizing her signature style. The footwear retailer’s limited edition collection is a throwback to the beloved items that were once on rotation in a little girl’s dress-up wardrobe.
It would not be a true Barbie collaboration roundup without mentioning the new collection – and equally impressive marketing campaign – from luggage company Béis. Founded by Pretty Little Liars actress Shay Mitchell, the cult US favorite has released a magenta pink travel set to ensure you also travel in style just like Barbie.

Looking for some Barbie merch that doesn’t include apparel, then it’s worth taking a look at Typo’s edit. The retailer has released its fun capsule collection featuring mugs, cushions, socks, and tumblers with the Barbie branding. Typo has also put together a Barbie-themed edit for its online store that includes official merch and similar pink-inspired products.

If you’re looking to grab something Barbie but in search of something more subtle, then it’s worth checking out Superga’s limited edition range. The eight-piece collection features Barbie branding on Superga’s iconic styles. The branding ranges from minimalist to bold pink colorful prints.

Inspired by the doll’s signature emblems, Fossil has reimagined its watches, jewelry and bags for the release of the Barbie Movie. The retailer has embellished its timepieces and gold-tone stainless steel jewelry with signature icons such as flowers, hairbrushes, roller skates, and lipstick pendants.

Kipling has released a 10-piece collection, with its eight signature styles receiving a Barbie-approved makeover. The brand’s staple bags have been finished in Barbie pink and coated with a transparent glaze to create a shiny version of the brand’s signature crinkle nylon.
