Bed products top in US import of home textiles from Europe

European home textile products still penetrate the US markets despite stiff competition from Asian exporters. European home textiles exports to the US stood at $621.678 million in the first nine months of 2022 led by bed wear.

From January-September 2022 the bed wear exports from Europe amounted to $182.215 million. It was equivalent to 29.31 percent of total home textiles imported from the EU by the US. In 2021 the US imported bead wears worth $246.89 million which was 30.96 percent of the total home textile imports of $830.59 million by the United States. 

Floor products were relegated to second on the list, valuing $158.815 million accounting for 25.55 percent of the total US imports. In the 12 months of 2021 floor products were on top with a value of $257.192 accounting for 30.96 percent of total US home textile imports from Europe.

Made-ups worth $90.183 million (14.51 percent) against 107.77 million in2021, furnishing articles $57.512 million (9.25 percent), $77.08 million in 2021, camping $37.067 million (5.96 percent) against 41.283 million in 2021 were the other major European home textiles imports in the US.

Other home textiles products like window curtains, bathroom and kitchenware, tableware, worn clothing, and new/used rugs were also imported into the US from the EU.
