BGMEA urges Denmark Ambassador to promote Bangladesh’s RMG

As the impacts of the global recession start slowing apparel trade the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association has intensified its efforts to seek support from the diplomats few EU countries for supporting its apparel in their country. Few diplomats visited its office on November 20.

On November 20, the Demark Ambassador Winnie Estrup Petersen met BGMEA President Faruque Hassan at BGMEA Complex in Dhaka where she was apprised of the present situation of Bangladesh’s RMG industry in light of the global market scenario. She attentively listened to current challenges and RMG priorities, at the meeting.

The Danish envoy also discussed the scope of further collaboration and cooperation from Denmark.

The president of BGMEA apprised the ambassador that Bangladesh’s RMG industry of Bangladesh is aware of its duty towards sustainability as it is the only way to strengthen its position in the global markets.

He sought the support of Ambassador Winnie Estrup to promote the industry by sharing her experience about the positive development relating to sustainable and efficient products that are taking place in the garment sector of Bangladesh.

She also inaugurated the one-stop knowledge hub TTBC at BGMEA complex along with Ambassador of the Netherlands to Bangladesh Anne van Leeuwen, and IFC Country Manager for Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal Martin Holtmann.
