Chinese firm investing $23mn to set up Bangladeshi textile unit

A Chinese company is setting up a textile and home textile manufacturing venture within the Uttara Export Processing Zone (EPZ), at an investment of $23.15 million under the name of Bangladesh Boyang Textile.

The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) signed an agreement with the company at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka in the presence of Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, who is the BEPZA Executive Chairman.

A press release informed that the company will generate employment opportunities for around 1,993 Bangladeshis.

Bangladesh Boyang Textile has set a target to produce 50 million meters of linen, cotton, and denim fabrics per year and will also manufacture 3 million pieces of home textiles such as pillowcases, bed sheets, and tablecloths.
