Chinese PFY exports to India plummet 71.5% in July

The highest decline in Chinese exports of polyester filament yarn (PFY) was recorded in exports to India in July 2023, which plummeted by 71.5 percent as against June 2023 to touch 12,000 tons.

“Overall exports of PFY amounted to 305,000 tons in July 2023, down 10 percent month on month, or by 34,000 tons,” according to data from China customs.

Experts added that a decrease in China’s PFY exports in July was expected, as the Indian government had not announced the extension of the Quality Control Order (QCO) on polyester yarn.

China’s exports of Partially Oriented Yarn (POY) to India fell by 18,000 tons in July 2023 as against a total reduction of 24,000 tons of POY in the month.

Exports of Fully Drawn Yarn (FDY) in the same month reduced by 9,000 tons to India, while total FDY shipments dropped by 24,000 tons.
