Circulose and Marks & Spencer Forge Partnership to Scale Circular Fashion in the UK

Circular fashion takes a major leap forward as M&S becomes the first UK Scaling Partner of Circulose, signalling a shift from pilot projects to large-scale material transformation.

Circulose has announced a landmark partnership with Marks & Spencer (M&S), making the British retailer the first UK brand to formally join the company’s Scaling Partner program. The collaboration positions M&S at the forefront of circular-material adoption, with the brand set to integrate significant volumes of CIRCULOSE® — a next-generation fiber made entirely from textile waste — into upcoming collections.

CIRCULOSE® replaces virgin, wood-based fibers, offering identical quality and performance while reducing waste, emissions, and pressure on forests. By transforming discarded textiles into high-value material inputs, the technology supports global ambitions for a fully circular fashion system.

Circulose CEO Jonatan Janmark called the partnership “a major milestone” in accelerating circularity: “M&S’s leadership will help take next-generation materials from concept to commercial reality. More global brands will join this journey soon.”

For M&S, the partnership strengthens its long-standing sustainability agenda. Katharine Beacham, Head of Materials and Sustainability, said incorporating CIRCULOSE® is a critical step in reducing reliance on virgin fibers: “This is about moving beyond small-scale trials and embedding circular materials into our sourcing at meaningful volume.”

The agreement also underscores Circulose’s updated commercial model, which focuses on deep collaboration, licensing, and implementation support to help brands scale circular fibers across entire value chains — not just capsule collections.

As regulatory pressure and consumer demand push the industry toward low-impact materials, the Circulose–M&S partnership signals a new phase where circularity becomes both scalable and commercially viable.
