CLO virtual fashion launches marvelous designer 2025.2 with major upgrades for 3D apparel creation

CLO Virtual Fashion has released Marvelous Designer 2025.2, bringing powerful new tools that expand the software’s capabilities far beyond traditional cloth simulation — including armor creation, animated inflatables, and seamless integration with Unreal Engine’s MetaHumans.

What’s New in Marvelous Designer 2025.2

✔ Create armor and rigid elements
Artists can now convert 2D pattern pieces into Trims or Accessories, treating them as rigid bodies rather than cloth. This allows for detailed armor, props and structured elements — a major upgrade for game and VFX workflows.

✔ New Pleats Tool
A dedicated tool streamlines pleat creation, giving designers quicker, more precise control over complex garment detailing.

✔ Expanded keyframe animation
The keyframing system introduced earlier this year has been significantly expanded. New animatable properties include:

  • Shrinkage Weft/Warp (drape control)
  • Solidify (stiffening fabric)
  • Pressure (for inflatables and air-filled props)
  • Tack keyframes (attach trims, props or even animate constraints like a ball on a string)

This unlocks new creative applications, from animated balloons to dynamic costume transformations.

✔ Direct MetaHuman import (.dna support)
Users can now import MetaHumans directly in their native .dna format, avoiding conversion workflows. Clothing automatically resizes when exported back to MetaHuman Creator.

✔ Streamlined garment export
EveryWear-optimized garments can now be exported directly to local machines in FBX.
