Closed is making it easier for consumers to find the perfect gift while also elevating local artists. The German denim brand recently launched the Closed Minimarket, an online gift shop featuring a curated assortment of products made in Europe. Products span jewelry, accessories, beach, stationery, books, home, games, and beauty.
The move also follows other denim brands’ expansion into the home goods category, fueled in part by a booming denim business and what WGSN described as the “Covid pivot”—when apparel-focused brands expanded into other categories that intersect with apparel during the pandemic. Categories like beauty, home goods, and wellness were some of the top new areas.
The collection also features A BETTER BLUE denim line.
The textile products have been made using sustainable materials like organic cotton fibers, flax fiber, etc. The organic cotton used to produce these shorts is more environmentally friendly in cultivation and processing than conventional cotton.
Plants, spices, and soil have been used to extract dyes and pigments for thousands of years, and this environmentally friendly method is used more and more today. The final color tone at the end of the dyeing process depends not only on the color itself but also on the dyed material. Slight variations in color intensity are quite natural. The cultivation of flax – from which linen is obtained – consumes significantly less water than other raw materials.
In addition, the flax plant is very robust and easy to care for.
The online collection also offers sustainable luxury: the swimwear label Sébastien from London focuses on the production of sustainable swimwear. Sébastien’s high-quality bikinis and swimsuits are made of regenerated nylon (ECONYL®) from Spain and Italy.
ECONYL® is made of old fishing nets and yarn discards, among other materials. The material offers maximum wearing comfort and, unlike conventional nylon, can be recycled again and again.
