In celebration of World Cotton Day, a seminar was organized at the REDCo Hall in Vehari, Punjab, under the Cotton Revival Program initiated by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The event aimed to highlight the economic importance and industrial value of cotton, a vital crop for the region.
Various stalls were set up, showcasing a range of cotton-based products, from raw cotton to finished goods, demonstrating the versatility and significance of the crop in the textile industry. These displays underscored the potential of cotton in driving economic growth and employment in the area.
Chief Coordinator of REDCo Vehari, Qamar Mahmood, emphasized the Punjab government’s commitment to restoring Vehari’s status as the “Cotton King.” He highlighted ongoing efforts to revitalize the cotton industry through modern agricultural practices and increased collaboration with the private sector.
The seminar featured discussions by experts such as Rana Muhammad Arif, Dr. Abid Niaz, Fahad Ihsan, Zubair Nasir, and Dr.
Ramzan Asi. Topics included advancements in cotton cultivation techniques, the impact of climate change on production, and strategies for enhancing the cotton value chain.
A significant turnout of male and female farmers attended the event, gaining valuable insights into innovative cotton farming methods and marketing strategies. The seminar served as a platform for knowledge exchange and reinforced the importance of cotton in Pakistan’s agricultural and industrial sectors.
