Egypt’s Minister of Manpower and Public Business Sector has announced that the ministry is set to establish the world’s largest textile factory.

Mr Hisham Tawfiq, Egypt’s Minister of Manpower and Public Business Sector has announced that the ministry is set to establish the world’s largest textile factory, at the al-Shouna area of al-Mahalla al-Kobra in Gharbiya governorate.

This comes about as part of a plan to establish four new factories in addition to preparing for the establishment of 10 new gins.

Mr Tawfiq in a meeting with representatives of the Mahalla Spinning and Weaving Company’s workers said that the development of the textile companies begins with the development of cotton cultivation. He pointed out that the Agriculture Ministry brought a global initiative to oversee the cultivation of 20,000 acres of cotton, adding that LE21 billion will be pumped to develop the industry. He mentioned that a new cotton gin was installed in Fayoum, expected to be more efficient than the old one.
