Global textile leaders unveil joint vision for industry transformation at 2025 global fashion conference in Humen

A unified global vision for the textile and apparel industry was unveiled at the 2025 Global Fashion Conference in Humen, Dongguan (Guangdong province), bringing together industry leaders from 25 countries, including Italy, the UK, Spain, Egypt, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam.

Developed collectively by major global textile and apparel organizations, the new vision calls for establishing a multi-level consultation mechanism designed to address rising geopolitical risks, supply-chain disruptions, sustainability pressures, and technological shifts affecting the industry.

The framework proposes three core principles as the path forward:

  • Joint consultation for cooperation
  • Shared outcomes and co-development
  • Deep collaboration between industry, academia, and research institutions

Together, these priorities aim to accelerate technological innovation and strengthen resilience across the global textile and apparel value chain. Organizers noted that the vision offers clear direction for transforming the global apparel industry amid rapid change, marking a “crucial step” toward fashion system reform and inclusive, multi-modal development.

The conference was organized by the China National Textile and Apparel Council, and hosted by the China National Garment Association and the China Textile Information Center.

As one of China’s most important textile manufacturing hubs, Dongguan highlighted its own efforts to modernize industry infrastructure. Vice-mayor Liu Guangbin announced new policies offering up to 1 million yuan ($140,605) in incentives to support AI-driven and digital transformation initiatives among local enterprises.

The new global vision signals a coordinated effort among leading apparel nations to drive innovation, sustainability, and shared growth in an increasingly complex global fashion landscape.
