Green Theme Technologies (GTT) is launching Empel DSR to provide durable stain protection to many textiles. The company says that the protective treatment outperforms other currently available C6 and C8 options and is free from perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
Green Theme Technologies, Inc. is a textile innovation company with the mission to create products that outperform existing technologies while eliminating water usage and pollution
Rigorous testing shows that EMPEL™ outperforms all other water repellent finishes. There are two compelling reasons EMPEL™ Molecular Water Protection should replace all other water repellent finishes on the market; it delivers 10X better Performance and Durability.
The company tested EMPEL™ against C8, C6 and C0 padded wet finishes for water repellency over time, laundry durability, and abrasion resistance. The results are always the same; EMPEL™ wins without close competition.

Bundesmann testing shows that EMPEL™ delivers impressive results
Bundesmann test results demonstrate that fabrics treated with EMPEL™ repel rain better, prevent rain from passing through the fabric, and prevent the fabric from absorbing water into the structure. Fleece hoodie fabric cannot normally repel water because the knit structure has too many openings. Watch how the rain runs off the face treated with EMPEL™.
The EMPEL™ chemistry
The Story of GTT’s technology revolution began in the kitchen of a Ph.D. Chemist, Dr. Gary Selwyn. He was determined to make a radical change to solve the massive pollution and poor performance created by the global textile industry. His idea was simple for a genius: use Hydrogen and Carbon, the building blocks of everything found in nature, and eliminate the use of water.
GTT vice president Martin Flora said, “The goal was to safely protect fabrics from stains for easier cleaning at lower temperatures.
Empel DSR also helps brands create lasting sustainable products by protecting the fabric from common deep penetrating stains that typically ruin the appearance of upholstered furniture and apparel.”
