Pakistan-based denim manufacturer Interloop has unveiled plans to install biomass boilers with 55-tonnes-per-hour capacity at its new apparel park.
The fuel for biomass is derived from organic waste instead of coal or any other fossil fuel. Interloop expects to reduce total carbon dioxide emissions from steam generation by as much as 50,000 tonnes.

Interloop, reported net sales of just under $140 million or 38.5 billion Pakistani rupees for the first quarter, an increase of 26.4 percent year on year. Around 47 percent of this revenue came from US sales, according to company sources, followed by 37 percent in Europe and 16 percent in Asia. The domestic market contributed 6.9 percent. Interloop hopes to surpass $700 million in yearly revenue by 2026.
Capacity utilization for denim and apparel reached 71 percent and 29 percent, respectively, in fiscal 2023. The price of its denim was then $10.20 per piece.
