Levi’s new CEO promises to keep ‘profits through principles’

New Levi Strauss & Co chief executive Michelle Gass has assured the company’s employees by operating with transparency, listening, and learning from them, she will foster a culture in which their ideas and contributions will “make an impact”.

In her message after assuming the office as CEO on January 30, Ms. Gass told employees that she would keep Levi Strauss & Co’s values “front and center” in her work and stay true to the company’s commitment to “profits through principles.”

Elaborating her point, she said that this means supporting Levi’s sustainability efforts, its diversity, equity, and inclusion work, and the company’s engagement and advocacy on the social issues that matter most to employees and communities. “These are hallmarks of who we are as a company, and they serve as a source of pride and a compass for us all, she added”

As former chief executive of the Kohl’s retail chain, Michelle Gass moved to Levi’s in 2022. She worked first as brand president, but the denim brand said from the outset that she would take over from Chip Bergh as chief executive within 18 months.
