The chemistry used to make CiCLO fibers is ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX® certified. Each ingredient is analyzed annually to confirm it meets statutory requirements and is not harmful to human health during a multistep process. This independent certification offers transparent proof that CiCLO ingredients meet the ecologically responsible textile manufacture criteria. Once per year, OEKO-TEX updates the limits of the banned substances and expands them to include new scientific findings or statutory requirements. CiCLO fibers, yarns, and textiles have been proven effective over several years through reliable scientific data gathered from third-party laboratory studies that determine the rate and extent of biodegradation in simulated environments, including seawater landfill and wastewater treatment plants.
The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) has established internationally recognized scientific and technological tests to measure the true biodegradation of plastic products in these environments. Long-term studies demonstrate clearly how microbes metabolize CiCLO textiles and fugitive microfibers while untreated textiles remain persistent and refractory in those same environments.
