Nike ranks 26th among world’s most sustainable companies for 2025

Nike has been named 26th in Sustainability Magazine’s 2025 list of the Top 250 World’s Most Sustainable Companies, reflecting its growing leadership in circular innovation and climate action. The world’s largest athletic footwear and apparel brand—home to Converse and Jordan—continues to push its Move to Zero initiative, aimed at achieving zero carbon and zero waste across its operations.

Under Move to Zero, Nike targets 100% renewable energy in all owned facilities by 2025 and a 30% carbon reduction across its global supply chain by 2030. The company also plans to cut its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 65% from its 2015 baseline through renewable energy adoption, material innovation, and low-carbon logistics.

Nike’s sustainability drive prioritises recycled polyester, lower-impact leather, and closed-loop materials across its core product lines—polyester, cotton, foam, and rubber. The company’s design teams are re-engineering patterns and packaging to reduce waste while maintaining performance and quality.

A pioneer in circularity since launching its Reuse-a-Shoe program in the 1990s, Nike now aims to divert 100% of supply-chain waste from landfill by 2025 and recycle at least 80% of it into new products.

Chief Design Officer John Hoke calls design “a powerful lever for change,” while former CEO John Donahoe emphasised that “the future of sport depends on a healthy planet.” Together, these principles define Nike’s strategy: to make sustainability not just a goal—but the foundation of performance innovation.
