NTU launches the ‘Pakistan Textile Portal’ to facilitate local textile manufacturers

The National Textile University (NTU) has launched the ‘Pakistan Textile Portal’ to facilitate local textile millers.

NTU is the pioneer institute for quality textile education in the country. The mission of National Textile University is to contribute towards sustainable socio-economic development of society and welfare of humanity through the pursuit of excellence in education, research, and innovation in areas of National importance, with particular emphasis on textile and clothing.

Inaugurating this portal at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) on Friday, FCCI President Atif Munir Sheikh underlined the importance of the textile sector in the national economy and said that Faisalabad is the iconic representation of the textile sector. He said industrialists and business people must switch from traditional textile to technical textile, and in this connection, the NTU could also extend its services.

Dr. Hafsa Jamsheed said that mills and SMEs could register with the portal free and showcase their products by uploading detailed information about their quality brands with their manufacturing capacity. Furthermore, repeated awareness sessions would be arranged to popularise the portal and convince exporters to use the free facility. She said that its scope would be expanded gradually up to Pakistan and then worldwide. The information provided on this portal could also be translated into multiple languages to ensure its acceptability in different regions and countries. She said this portal could also be utilized for B2B and B2C negotiations and transactions. A presentation was given on how to open an account on this portal.

FCCI has applauded the efforts of the National Textile University in this regard. It is hoped that the portal could be a game-changer in transforming the local sector from low-profit margin conventional textiles to high-profit margin technical textiles. Furthermore, NTU has more than 40 Ph.D. faculty members in the Department of Textile Engineering to help the local sector with R&D and technological advancements.
