Pakistan’s cotton arrivals surge 49% to 3.04 million bales by end-september

Pakistan’s cotton sector has shown a significant recovery, with arrivals rising by 49.24% year-on-year, reaching 3.044 million bales by the end of September 2025. This marks a notable improvement compared to 2.039 million bales during the same period last year, reflecting better crop performance and improved harvesting conditions.

The increase has been largely driven by a strong recovery in both Sindh and Punjab, the country’s major cotton-producing regions. Sindh contributed 1.907 million bales, a 45.29% rise from the previous year, while Punjab reported 1.

136 million bales, showing a robust 56.37% year-on-year increase.

Favorable weather conditions, timely sowing, and improved pest control measures have contributed to the overall growth.

Despite early-season challenges such as pest outbreaks and localized flooding in Sindh, conditions improved steadily, allowing harvesting and ginning operations to gain pace.

Out of the total arrivals, approximately 2.409 million bales have been procured by textile mills, while 94,800 bales were exported. This reflects strong demand from both domestic and international buyers, as the textile sector anticipates stable yarn demand in the upcoming months.

Last year, Pakistan’s total cotton arrivals stood at 5.524 million bales, significantly lower than 8.303 million bales in the 2023–24 season. The current surge signals a positive turnaround for the cotton industry and offers optimism for a more stable cotton economy if favorable conditions continue through the remainder of the season.
