Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, CEO of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), announced that TDAP’s role will expand beyond organizing delegations and exhibitions to a comprehensive focus on export development and investment facilitation. During his first visit to the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA), Faiz emphasized TDAP’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s business community through long-term strategic trade and investment development.
Faiz stated that TDAP will advocate for businesses at both federal and provincial levels, offering assistance to exporters and investors to navigate international markets. Key sectors of focus include textiles, agro-food, leather, petroleum, and renewable energy. He also outlined the reorganization of Pakistan’s trade diplomacy, including the re-designation of commercial counselors to trade and investment officers, with a performance review system in place.
Dr. Gohar Ejaz, former Minister for Commerce, highlighted the need for brand development and export growth, emphasizing that Pakistan must achieve at least 10% annual growth in exports to reduce foreign debt. APTMA Chairman Kamran Arshad noted challenges like high energy costs and declining cotton production but proposed measures, including restoring Regionally Competitive Energy Tariffs (RCET) and a revised tax regime to boost exports. Faiz assured exporters of TDAP’s full support in addressing their concerns.
