Teijin has announced that it has adopted stricter 2030 targets to reduce CO2 emissions from in-house operations and its entire supply chain, effective from July 2021.
Teijin is a technology-driven global group that offers advanced solutions in environmental value, safety, security, disaster mitigation, demographic change, and increased health consciousness. Originally established as Japan’s first rayon manufacturer in 1918, Teijin has evolved into a unique enterprise encompassing three core business domains: high-performance materials, healthcare, and IT.
The in-house CO2 emissions reduction target for fiscal 2030 has been raised to 30%, up from the previous target of 20% compared to the fiscal 2018 emissions level. The supply chain target, which covers two-thirds of total supply-chain emissions, newly incorporates a numerical target of 15% fewer emissions than the fiscal 2018 level.
In addition, these revised and new targets are positioned as Teijin’s long-term targets for reducing environmental impact in its Medium-Term Management Plan. The in-house target is in line with the Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi) standards to limit global warming to well below two degrees Celsius.
The supply chain target is also based on the SBTi standards.
Aiming to contribute to a sustainable society, Teijin offers advanced environmental value, safety, security and disaster mitigation, demographic change, and increased health consciousness.
As a people-focused company, Teijin provides innovative solutions for enhanced quality of life and minimizes any negative impact on the environment or society through its business activities.
