The 5th edition of TEXPO Pakistan 2024 commenced on Wednesday at the Expo Center in Karachi, marking a significant international exhibition aimed at promoting the domestic textile and leather industries. Over 200 exhibitors are showcasing their products, while approximately 573 foreign buyers from 60 countries are in attendance to explore business opportunities.
The event was inaugurated digitally by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, alongside Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah.
The TEXPO, organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), will run until October 25, with the final day open to the general public.
During the inaugural ceremony, Minister Kamal expressed confidence in the resilience and competitiveness of Pakistan’s textile and leather sectors. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors to promote value addition and product diversification, particularly in areas like non-cotton apparel, technical textiles, and high-fashion leather accessories.
The Ministry of Commerce is actively supporting businesses through its Export Development Fund, focusing on trade promotion, infrastructure development, and sustainable manufacturing practices. Minister Kamal highlighted the commitment to adopting eco-friendly techniques and digital transformation, aiming for a sustainable future in these industries.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah noted that TEXPO 2024 provides a platform for artisans to showcase their talents, with major markets for leather and textile products in Europe and the United States.
Governor Kundi reinforced the event’s role in promoting Pakistan’s soft image globally.
The event also features sector-specific B2B meetings and a fashion show spotlighting renowned Pakistani designers, further enhancing the potential for international partnerships and economic growth. With a focus on elevating Pakistan’s textile and leather industries, TEXPO 2024 is set to drive significant economic activity and showcase the nation’s capabilities on a global stage.
