Türkiye’s Ministry of Industry and Technology (MOIT) is spearheading the country’s transition towards a low-carbon economy in line with its 2053 net-zero target. The government is working closely with industries, businesses, and other stakeholders to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainability across key sectors. This effort is part of Türkiye’s broader commitment to the Paris Agreement and its strategic goal of achieving carbon neutrality by mid-century.
A major initiative under MOIT’s leadership is the establishment of a comprehensive roadmap for decarbonizing industries such as textiles, energy, transportation, and manufacturing. This plan focuses on promoting energy-efficient technologies, encouraging the adoption of renewable energy sources, and facilitating the development of carbon capture and storage (CCS) solutions.
The transition also involves significant investments in green technologies, with an emphasis on supporting innovation and fostering sustainable practices in production processes.
The government is rolling out policies and incentives to stimulate the adoption of low-carbon solutions, while also aligning with the European Union’s Green Deal and other international sustainability frameworks.
As part of the strategy, MOIT is collaborating with national and international organizations to create a robust regulatory framework and enhance the capabilities of local industries in meeting global environmental standards.
The move is expected to not only reduce Türkiye’s carbon footprint but also position the country as a global leader in sustainability and green technology innovation.
This ambitious initiative marks a pivotal step towards achieving Türkiye’s long-term environmental goals and reinforcing its commitment to a sustainable, low-carbon future.
