25% cheaper cost of the business in Pakistan gives a push to men’s apparel exports to China

25% cheaper cost of doing business in Pakistan gives a push to men’s apparel exports to China by 17% in Jan-Oct 2022. According to the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, men’s or boys’ apparel (commodity code 61034200), increased by 15.29% worth $11.85 million while last year in the same period it was $ 10.28 million.

Women’s apparel and home textile exports have also registered an upsurge during the same period, which speaks volumes about the edge over China to Pakistan in terms of the cost of doing business. It has also propelled bilateral business at a faster pace and both countries are inching towards signing a free trade agreement besides the relocation of industry from China to Pakistan.

It may be noted that Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Zone is being set up at the Motorway near Lahore to avail the mutual benefits and a textile university has also been proposed on the site. Developer work is fast underway nowadays.
