The 47th International Congress of the IFKT (International Federation of Knitting Technologists) is taking place in Turkey on 25 to 26 September 2014. It is being organised by Ege University’s Department of Textile Engineering. The IFKT will become the centre of interest for researchers from different fields of knitting, where they can discuss and share their knowledge, and will also provide a platform for further conceptual development on all symposium topics.
The congress will begin with the IFKT Central Board Meeting on Wednesday 24 September from 6pm to 9pm at the Boyalik Beach Hotel in Izmir. The presentations to congress will start with plenary sessions on 25 September and will continue in the afternoon on the subjects of “Functional/Technical Knitted Materials“ and “Innovation in Knitting Technology and Machine Building“. After the first day’s sessions, the General Assembly of the IFKT will be held from 5.30pm to 7pm and the day will conclude with a gala dinner in an amazing and warm atmosphere in the small charming village of Çesme (Izmir).
On the second day, 26 September, the sessions will focus on the topics: “Design and Fashion in Knitting and Clothing“, “Simulation and Modelling“, “Quality and Testing in Knitting“, “Education in Knitting“ and “Comfort and Wellbeing“; poster presentations will also be given. The congress will finish on 27 September with a full day excursion including visits to the ancient city of Ephesus, the House of the Virgin Mary and the village in Izmir.
