As stated in the last fortnightly report on cotton arrivals revealed by Pakistan Cotton Ginners’ Association (PCGA), ginneries all over Pakistan received over 5.493 million bales of cotton in 2021-21 season on 15th January, 2021. When compared to last season when the advent was 8.338 million bales, the percentage went down to 34.

According to the report assembled by PCGA with assistance of with All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) and the Karachi Cotton Association (KCA), total cotton arrivals decreased by 30.88 percent year-on-year to 3.366 million bales in the major cotton-producing Sindh province of Punjab.
There was a decrease recorded at 38.67 percent to 2.126 million bales during the ongoing cotton season 2020-21.

399 million bales were pressed by ginners, of which 4.907 million bales were sold, and unsold stock of 491,231 bales were left with the ginners.
As of January 15, a total of 150 ginning factories were operational in Punjab compared to 208 ginneries that were operational during the same time last season. Similarly, 16 ginning units were operational in the Sindh region, compared to 24 operating units during the corresponding period last year.
Due to scarcity of water, bad weather, and cotton leaf curl virus attacks on the crops, the production is expected to remain lower when compared with the previous 2019-20 season when the produce was around 8.571 million bales.
