Punjab intents to raise ADP by 77pc in the annual budget

A massive Rs550bn Annual Development Programme (ADP) is to be commenced by Punjab in the annual budget for the fiscal year 2021-22.

The forthcoming ADP is designed to focus on roads infrastructure development, social sector, health and education and public welfare, minorities and industry. Moreover, it is also 77.5pc higher when compared with the current Rs310bn programme.

Directed by the ADP, Rs94bn will be allotted to the health sector, Rs60bn will be assigned to launch the universal health insurance for all, and under this project, it plans covering 100pc population by December this year.

Rs35bn will be granted to the agricultural sector for developmental purposes.

This is almost double the amount that was granted in the current fiscal year.

The ADP is also expected to encourage the project launched under public-private partnership (PPP), build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) or build, operate and transfer (BOT) modes. Moreover, small towns will also be allotted a budget and a set of schemes as District Development Package
