While Pakistan’s apparel sector constantly faces shortage of skilled labor due to shortage of vocational institutes, Indians are now producing enough skilled force to export trained manpower in stitching.
Apparel Made Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) established under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship National Skill Development Council (NSDC) for the job-roles related to Apparel Industry managed to find jobs for 30 of its trained workers as the Sewing Machine Operator (SMO) job. These workers were hired by a Kuwait based leading company M/s Alghanim Son’s Group.
There is no apparel manufacturing unit of global standard in Kuwait as the needed workforce is not available. Now that they have hired skilled stitchers from India the Kuwait’s employer is set to launch the first apparel making unit in the state. These candidates were also taught managerial, cultural and soft skills.
The Council’s certification ensures quality training as per the set standards of the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF), and for the first time a batch of 30 youths have been selected under the International Placement in Apparel Manufacturing Unit of Kuwait. Encouraged by this success the training institute intends to focus on more global- placements to make India skill development center of the world.
