After UK fashion brand Zara to launch its second-hand platform in France and Germany

Inditex which already operates a store in France to sell, repair, or donate second-hand clothes of its Zara brand is expanding its services in the country France.

Now the services of the Spanish brand will be available through Zara’s stores, its website, and a mobile app. This app has already been in operation for its British customers since last October. An official of the brand said it will also be launched in Germany this year.

This exercise is part of Zara’s strategy to extend the life of customers’ clothes which will contribute to the reduction of waste and the consumption of new raw materials, according to a statement by the brand.

The statement is that by 2030, 40 percent of clothing pieces marketed by Zara will be made with recycled fibers. Moreover, the brand is backing charities such as Moda Re, which manages textile waste. This is part of the company’s strategy to reduce its carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2030 and by 90 percent by 2040.

Zara is not alone in this regard, other brands are also offering their products for resale including its main competitor H&M. The fashion brands are constrained to offer these services as the global second-hand apparel market is growing.
