Artificial intelligence to facilitate e-tailers to reduce size related returns in e-commerce

The sustainability culture is spread all over the textile chain to the extent that a Munich-based startup Sizekick has launched a new AI technology created to reduce size-related returns in e-commerce, allowing retailers to lower CO2 emissions with a more fitting and sustainable shopping experience.

The innovative Al-based will assist online fashion shoppers by taking individual body measurements into account and recommending the right clothing size. Sizekic technology offer two options to consumers to enable them to provide the appropriate size recommendations.

The first option is to use the ‘bodyfinder’ technology that uses individual body measurements, inputted by the customer, to recommend the right clothing size by offering realistic body shapes to choose from. Another option is to provide the size to the retailer through ‘bodyScanner’ This option enables customers to scan their own body via their smartphone’s video function. The customer rotates in front of their smartphone camera and the AI technology ‘scans’ their body and provides their measurements.

Sizekick has offered its AI-solution to retailers and brands to aid in minimising return orders from customers due to sizing issues.  Provided as a ‘Sizekick button’, the start-up offers its solution as software-as-a-service (SaaS), and has already seen a number brands and retailers, including US outdoor brand Black Diamond, German brand Marc Cain and Swiss retailer Rrrevolve, integrate the technology into their ecommerce platforms.”

The collaboration with Hohenstein has allowed us to draw on many years of knowledge in the field of apparel technology to develop a highly accurate and user-friendly solution,” said Sizekick founders and CEOs Jake Lydon and David Oldeen.
