Bangladeshi home textile exports slip massively in Q1FY’24

Home textile exports from Bangladesh which had entered the billion-dollar club in fiscal 2020-21 have slipped massively in the last few months.

In the first fiscal quarter ending September 30, 2023, Bangladeshi home textile exports fell immensely by 46.40 percent to $189.50 million as against $353.48 million in the same quarter of earlier fiscal.

“Bangladesh exports various home textile items like furnishing fabrics, bed sheets, towels, table napkins, pillow covers and many other products,” media reports stated.

Data from Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) revealed that in fiscal 2019-20, overseas shipments of home textiles totalled $758.91 million, which grew spectacularly to $1.13 billion in the next fiscal.
