Brazil seeks 100,000 tons duty free cotton exports to India

Farmers and government officials from Brazil are visiting India to clinch a deal to export 100,000 tons of duty-free Brazilian to India. “Currently India imposes 11 import duties for imported from various countries,” the Brazilian Cotton Farmers Association (ABRAPA) said in a statement. ABRAPA added that if India agrees to the deal, it will boost the prospects of the Brazilian sector, which is expected to become the largest global producer in the ongoing season.

Celestino Zanella, ABRAPA President stated that there are indications that the Indian crop is expected to decline 7-10 percent this season and so Brazilian cotton will help meet the shortfall.
