Cambodia leapfrogs to eighth place in global garment exports

Data from the World Trade Organisation (WTO) informs that Cambodia has leapfrogged to eighth place in 2022 from 11th place in 2021 in worldwide garment export rankings.

The top ten global apparel exporters in 2021 were China, the European Union, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Turkey, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Pakistan and Cambodia at 11th place.

According to media reports, the new ranking in 2022 is China, the EU, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Turkey, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Pakistan and Hong Kong.

In 2022, the Chinese share in global garment trade was 31.7 percent, followed by the EU at 27.1 percent, Bangladesh at 7.9 percent, Vietnam at 6.1 percent, Turkey at 3.5 percent, India at 3.1 percent, Indonesia at 1.7 percent, Cambodia at 1.6 percent, and Pakistan with 1.5 percent.
