China’s October4128 to invest $19.7m in high-end garment plant in Bangladesh

Chinese apparel maker October4128 (BD) Ltd has announced a $19.7 million investment to build a high-end garment factory in the BEPZA Economic Zone at Mirsharai, Chattogram. The agreement, signed on 16 October in Dhaka, highlights strengthening investor confidence in Bangladesh’s export-oriented manufacturing base.

The facility will produce 3 million units annually of premium outerwear and sports apparel—including ski, snow, hunting, yoga, and rainproof workwear—and employ nearly 2,800 Bangladeshi workers. The move aligns with Bangladesh’s broader strategy to upgrade its textile industry toward performance and technical textiles, reducing dependence on low-margin basics.

With 49 companies now committed to BEPZA EZ and total pledged investments surpassing $1 billion, the zone is rapidly positioning itself as a hub for diversified, high-value manufacturing. BEPZA’s leadership hailed the deal as proof of the country’s growing reputation as a secure and efficient production base for global brands.

As multinational buyers seek resilient supply chains and near-China alternatives, investments like October4128’s signal Bangladesh’s evolution from cost-driven manufacturing to technology-intensive, skill-based production—a shift that could reshape the regional apparel landscape.
