In October 2023, Chinese imports of cotton yarn totaled 159,200 tons, up 10 percent or 15,900 tons compared to September 2023.
However, the import volume in October this year is 2.7 times that in the same month of the previous year.
“In the first ten months of the current year, overall import volume of imported cotton yarn reached 1.27 million tons,” data from Chinese customs informed.
In October, cotton yarn imports from Vietnam were 63,000 tons, with an import share of 40 percent, while those from India fell 10,000 tons compared to September to reach 30,900 tons.
However, imports of cotton yarn from Pakistan declined in October to 24,200 tons, a month-over-month drop of 25 percent.
According to import statistics, the cumulative import volume of Indian yarn for the January to October period gradually surpassed that of Pakistan.
Import volumes of Uzbekistan cotton yarn hit a new high, reaching 17,800 tons in October, mainly due to the decline in Uzbek cotton yarn prices following the arrival of the new season’s cotton.
