Chinese investment sought in Bangladesh yarns & fabrics sector

Bangladesh seeks Chinese investment in the textile industry, particularly in the yarns and fabrics segments.

Recently, a delegation from the China Cotton Textile Association and the China Knitting Industrial Association met the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) office bearers.

The discussions between the two countries focused on trade and investment opportunities and expanding the scope for Chinese investment in the Bangladesh textile sector.

“The shift to manmade fiber (MMF) garments would lead to a growth in demand for MMF yarns and fabrics and other raw materials,” BGMEA President Faruque Hassan said.

“China has a huge capacity in the MMF yarns and fabrics sector, and so China is in a position to meet the requirements of Bangladesh. Alternatively, China could invest in the yarns and fabrics segment,” Hassan added.

The Chinese trade delegation consisted of representatives from various segments of the textile industry, such as machinery, yarns, fabrics, textile dyes, and chemicals.
