Exports increase by 15.28pc in 11 months, 32.35pc in May

During July – May (2017-18) Pakistani exports have shown an increment of 15.28% compared to last year. In these eleven months the exports were $21.346 billion whereas last year the exports were $18.516 billion. During this period imports grew from $48.398 billion to $55.232 billion by an increase of 14.12%.The trade deficit during the period under review escalated by 13.40% to $33.886 billion from $29.882 billion.

Meanwhile, according to YOY (year-on-year) basis in May 2018, Pakistan exports were recorded at $2.144 billion by a surge of 32.35% as to May 2017 exports of $1.620 billion. Simultaneously, the imports increased to $5.814 billion showing a growth of 14.77% against $5.066 billion recorded in May 2017. Similarly, under the YOY basis the trade deficit in May 2018 increased to $3.760 billion by 6.5% from $3.466 billion last May.

On MOM (month-on-month) basis, the exports increased by 0.52% during month of May 2018 when compared to the exports of $2.133 billion in April 2018 and imports increased by 13.80% in May 2018  when compared to the imports of $5.109 billion in April 2018.
