Ferraro Spa: Innovation and sustainability as drivers of
development

Ferraro Spa, a leading company that for over 70 years has been operating in the textile finishing sector, both knitted and woven, with thousands of installations all over the world, is now aiming at sustainable development, where the reduction of emissions, the adoption of circular economy processes, the reduction of energy produced from non-renewable sources and the “greening” of all production processes and products have become guiding elements of the company vision.

Commercial Director Giovanni Pizzamiglio said: “Our mission reflects the core values of a constantly innovative and engineering-oriented company. We produce high-value made in Italy solutions, using only high-quality components, expertise, and professionalism at every stage of our work, respecting the environment, favoring low-energy impact solutions, and providing the highest quality standards”.

As evidence of this, Ferraro has obtained ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001: 2015 and OHSAS 18001: 2007 certifications. These certifications according to ISO standards are valid in as many as 164 countries, guarantee the worldwide application of shared technical standards, offer a guarantee to customers and demonstrate the company’s commitment and responsibility to continue to improve its processes and comply with regulations; they also provide an objective, standardised, transparent and international technical reference framework.

Also, since its inception, the company has been a supporter of the Acimit Green Label project: an internationally recognised, successful certification that, through targeted redesigning of the machinery itself, aims to reduce energy consumption across the board and thus CO2 emissions, i.e. pollution. This is a new industrial approach aimed at reducing the consumption of natural resources through their more efficient use, with the objective of preserving the natural environment and at the same time safeguarding the company’s development, and therefore employment.

Thanks to these policies, Ferraro has achieved remarkable results that can be summarised as a reduction in overall energy consumption by 47 percent, a reduction in overall steam consumption by 62 percent, and a reduction in overall air consumption by 37 percent. ‘Never before has the theme of sustainability become an integral part of our daily lives,’ explains Alex Zucchi, CEO of Ferraro Spa, ‘and it is even more of a protagonist in current and future industrial development.

In this context, Ferraro Spa has adopted new strategic actions to redesign its business models, intervening both in the value chain and in the relationships with its supply chain partners. This is a process of high strategic and social value for the company, which focuses on green innovation to build competitiveness in the future. In concrete terms, the company was among the first to join the recyclability project promoted by Acimit, i.e. to produce textile machinery with 100 per cent recyclable components.

Listing the many initiatives Pizzamiglio added: “Our brand is built around a renowned guarantee of quality and customer service both at home and abroad. This is ensured by our extensive network of agents and technicians, to respond promptly and effectively to any customer request, with expertise and passion in each individual segment of our global network. Moreover, as we are never stopping seeking for improvements, we are now completely focused is on the digitisation of all our machinery range with full integration in digital flows such as Industry 4.0, cloud technology and predictive maintenance for remote assistance.”
