Topic: Genome Assisted breeding in Cotton
Speaker: Dr Mehboob-ur-Rahman
Deputy Chief Scientist & Professor, Group Leader Plant genomics & Mol. Breeding Lab, National Institute for Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering, Faisalabad, Pakistan (Dr Mehboob has done some remarkable work in the field of cotton genome. As a principal breeder, he discovered and developed 10 cotton varieties. Not only did he translate the genomic information for the development of resilient cotton cultivars, he also edited 2 books as well. GM cotton varieties were introduced in Pakistan in 2005 under his leadership. Dr Rahman received more than a dozen Awards including the ICAC International Cotton Researcher of the Year in 2014.)

Speaker: Dr John Z Yu
Research Geneticist, USDA-ARS, and Adjunct Professor, Texas A&M University, USA (With a four-decade research experience at national and international institutions, Dr John Yu earned global recognition for his excellent work regrading plant breeding, genetics, and genomics. He has mentored visiting scientists from the U.S. and abroad as well as 60+ students. Dr. Yu is the ICAC Cotton Researcher of the Year 2019.)The lectures will be translated simultaneously into French and Spanish.
