The primary focus will be on discussing and finding sustainable solutions for the textile industry of Pakistan and the importance of a circular economy.

A recent report by the United Nations indicates that the Asia-Pacific region is lacking behind on sustainable goals. The clock is ticking, and time is short for overcoming the weaknesses in implementing sustainable strategies for tackling climate change, deforestation, and depleting natural resources. Similarly, a Circular economy is a new production and consumption model that ensures sustainable growth over time.

With the circular economy, we can drive the optimization of resources, reduce the consumption of raw materials, and recover waste by recycling or giving it a second life as a new product. Therefore, the circular economy aims to make the most of the material resources available by applying three basic principles: reduce, reuse, and recycle. In this way, the life cycle of products is extended, waste is used, and a more efficient and sustainable production model is established over time. The idea arises from imitating nature, where everything has value, and everything is used, where waste becomes a new resource. In this way, the balance between progress and sustainability is maintained. Thus, the upcoming ICC 2023 will lay a foundation for Pakistan’s textile sector and other stakeholders to move together for sustainable textile production and a circular economy.

The last 5th Inspiring Change Conference was an international success and it continued the legacy of keeping up with its tradition. More than 500 international and national participants graced the event with their presence. ICC has gained a name for itself in the textile value chain of Pakistan as it focuses on the various challenges faced by the textile world and invites key stakeholders and textile experts to share their insights and guide different decision-makers for the better.
