Lenzing, Hyosung, and Laguna unite for ‘made in LA’ low-impact fabric line

Laguna Fabrics, Lenzing AG, and Hyosung partner to launch the Natural Selection Collection. This is an innovative fabric collection that features lyocell and Creora’s bio-based spandex fiber, which takes into consideration functionality, style, and environmental responsibility.

This eco-friendly, stylish collection includes single jerseys, interlocks, and ribs, which are appropriate for contemporary women’s collections, including premium tops, first-layer shapewear, and form-fitting dresses.

David Roshan, a representative of Laguna Fabrics said, “Our commitment to low-impact fibers has been ongoing since 2001, with over 70% of our products crafted from natural materials. By partnering with Hyosung, we successfully incorporate its creora® bio-based spandex made with 30% renewable resources. This alternative stretch fiber performs exceptionally well, addressing the challenge of implementing sustainable options.”

The spandex made by Creora is bio-based and features materials from industrial field corn. It also replaces 30% of petroleum-based resources. On the other hand, TENCEL Lyocell fibers are made from wood, which is sustainably sourced. It is produced through a closed-loop production method where the solvents are recovered and reused to reduce their environmental impact.

Erica Redd, Business Development Manager at Lenzing Group said, “The Natural Selection Collection exemplifies how important collaboration is in achieving and creating sustainable solutions for our industry. Lenzing and the TENCEL™ brand are committed to working with supply chain partners to develop innovations and new fabrications that advance sustainability while meeting the performance needs of consumers.”
