Lorpen – one of the biggest worldwide brands of technical socks for outdoor activities, a national leader and with a presence in more than 60 countries – has joined Mountain Equipment Coop (MEC) in Canada for the upcoming Winter 2019 campaign. It’s a major event for the brand because Canada is currently its second biggest worldwide market after only the Spanish market.
And it already has an important presence in Canada with the SAIL Outdoors chain and the Forzani group, which are the other two main operators in the country.
Mountain Equipment Coop, which was founded in Vancouver in 1971, has 21 stores located in the major Canadian cities and is known as the “Canadian REI”, because they are both structured as cooperatives.
Mr Michel Gogniat, Ternua Group Commercial Director showed his happiness about this achievement, “Being able to join this chain, which is one of the most important in Canada and a leader in their outdoor sector, proves once again that the brand is at an optimum moment and our products meet the high technical standards of chains like MEC.” We’re optimistic and we believe that, after joining, our notoriety and sales in Canada, which is strategic for us, is going to expand in the coming years.
”
It should be noted that Lorpen manufactures mountaineering socks in Etxalar, Navarre, which is a village at the foot of the Pyrenees where it produces exclusively technical mountaineering socks. This specialization has led to developing its own layer technology (T3), where the composition of strategically placed threads makes these technical socks the best on the market.
