Mover Switzerland becomes 100% Plastic Free Sportswear company

With its new collection “100% Plastic Free”, the textiles company Mover presents a range of sports apparel that contains zero use of plastics. These innovative textiles also forego the use of plastic in zips, accessories, and threads. Mover is a privately owned, independent company based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Now Mover has specialized in making plastic-free thermal regulatory and protective sports garments.

The brand’s origin began in Sweden in 1982, a time where Mover was the first to introduce Gore-Tex® in its ski garments. In 2010, together with Baur Vliesstoffe, a German fleece manufacturer, Mover developed swisswool®, a revolutionary insulation material made entirely out of wool, intended to substitute for all polyester and down waddings. Through the search for optimized breathability and thermal regulation levels in garments, Mover has acquired distinctive know-how in integrating natural fabrics into highly technical sports garments.
In 2017, Mover made a decisive step by renouncing its Gore-Tex® license in favor of weather-resistant Ventile® fabrics made of high-density woven cotton. Moreover, the facts destroyed the fiction, and plastic became the problem: “why do we need plastics to enjoy the outdoors ?”

Plastic-based — or ‘synthetic’— textiles are woven into our daily lives. They are in our clothes, the towels we use, and the bedsheets we sleep on, and they are in the carpets, curtains, and cushions we decorate our homes and offices. Synthetic textile fibers are produced from fossil fuel resources, such as oil and natural gas. Their production, consumption, and related waste handling generate greenhouse gas emissions, use non-renewable resources, and release microplastics. Therefore, such a green plastic-free collection is highly appreciatable regarding green environmental campaigns.
