Myanmar exported garments totaling US $1.04 billion in the first fiscal quarter ending June 30, 2023, down $127 million compared to the same period last year.
“In fiscal 2022-23 (April to March), exports of apparel stood at $5.38 billion,” media reports quoting the Central Statistical Organisation of Myanmar, informed.
In 2010, Myanmar’s global clothing shipments stood at only $337 million, but they tripled by 2014, reaching nearly $1 billion and growing five times to $5.38 billion in 2022.
Myanmar mainly receives its readymade garments export orders from Japan, China, South Korea, and the EU.
