SuperCircle partners with Blank Street Coffee to connect clothing brands with recyclers

Ahead of the Christmas holidays, SuperCircle, a leading platform endeavoring for eliminating clothing waste, entered into a partnership with Blank Street Coffee, a coffee chain store in the US, to connect clothing brands with recyclers.

Under the arrangement, SuperCircle staff installed textile recycling bins at seven Blank Street Coffee locations around New York City, highlighting information about textile waste, its environmental impact, and the opportunities that recycling can create. In return for dropping off old clothes, people got a credit to use with one of SuperCircle’s brand partners: Mate the Label, Thousand Fell, or tentree. That offers brands a way to reach new customers when the cost per acquisition on Facebook and Instagram is relatively high.

According to a projection, some 100 billion garments will find their way to a United States landfill in the next five years, and less than 1% of actual garment waste is recycled. SuperCircle aims to change fashion and climate by bridging the gap between retail and textile waste through innovative business relationships that scale the recyclability of discarded textiles. It has made innovative arrangements with manufacturers to recycle apparel and footwear waste.
