Rizal Rakhman, secretary-general of the Indonesian Textile Association (API), is hopeful that the US Textile market would maintain after the US Elections.
Rizal anticipates that ties between the US and China could be mended following Joe Biden’s win.
Rizal said that “We hope that Indonesian-made textile products will continue to be able to have a strategic position in Biden’s eyes. We hope our market share in the United States market will not be replaced by China.
”
Rizal also added that the United States’ textile demands contribute to 35-40 percent of the total national exports. Therefore, the US is an important market needing to be sustained and encouraged the Indonesian government to establish a new diplomatic relation with Joe Biden’s future administration to preserve Indonesia’s exports to the US.
According to API’s records, the market share of Indonesian textile and derivative products (TPT) in the US was 4 percent in 2019 and 2 percent in the global market.
