Textile giants from South and Southeast Asia look towards Australia to boost exports

Leading textile exporters like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Vietnam are gearing up to avail the opportunities arising out of a leading Commonwealth member country.

Recently, the Australian Parliament ratified the Australia – India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ETCA) which has brightened the chances of more Indian textile exports to the world’s sixth-largest country.

Similarly, the commercial counselor of Vietnam has been found to be very active in the recently-held International Sourcing Expo Australia. He has introduced high-quality Vietnam textile products, especially the ones produced by their value-added sector. It may be noted that Vietnam’s garment-textile export to Australia has increased 27.96% so far this year to 358.4 million USD. The leather and footwear sector’s exports surged 41.05% year-on-year to 353.7 million USD.

Meanwhile, Pakistan and Bangladesh have also expedited their efforts to strengthen inroads in Australia to diversify their export destinations and enhance export volumes by getting more share from the Australian market. Interestingly, the Australian government and foreign envoys have also been actively engaging with these countries textile associations in the recent past.
