Top five sustainable apparel leaders

The top five brands best known for using sustainable methods in their apparel according to a study by Textalks include only one big brand the Levis which comes at number four. The rest are little known in Asia at least.

Patagonia is at the top in this regard. It is a brand that has been at the forefront of sustainability for many years, with a focus on using recycled materials and reducing waste. It has even launched an advertising campaign encouraging customers not to buy new gear, but instead to repair old items.

Patagonia, Inc. is an American retailer of outdoor clothing. It was founded by Yvon Chouinard in 1973 and is based in Ventura, California. Patagonia operates stores in 10+ countries globally, as well as factories in 16 countries. The brand and company’s commitment to the overall mission of saving the planet is what has built the success of the outdoor apparel brand over the last several decades. Patagonia was implementing ethical business practices long before it was cool to do so and has made reducing the company’s footprint a priority.

Next comes Everlane which is a brand that is dedicated to transparency in its supply chain, from the materials used to the price of each item. It also uses recycled materials such as polyester and nylon and has a goal to eliminate all virgin plastic from its supply chain by 2021.
Everlane is a clothing design and manufacturing company that specializes in designing clothing and footwear for men and women. It also provides an online marketplace that allows individuals to create accounts and purchase their products online. The company was founded in 2010 and headquartered in San Francisco, California. Alternatives and possible competitors to Everlane may include Tradesy, Stitch Fix, and Bombas.

Reformation is ranked third. Reformation’s sustainable practices include using eco-friendly fabrics such as Tencel, recycled polyester, and deadstock (unused) fabrics. The brand also has a program that allows customers to recycle their old clothes in exchange for store credit.

Reformation began by selling vintage clothing out of a small Los Angeles storefront in 2009. We quickly expanded into making our stuff, with a focus on sustainability. Today, we make effortless silhouettes that celebrate the feminine figure and pioneer sustainable practices, focusing on people and progress each step of the way.

According to the company every week, it put out new, limited edition collections. Starting with small quantities of each product, and only making more if there is demand, based on direct data and feedback. This keeps its production less wasteful, and exclusive, so no one at the party will be wearing the same dress.

Levi’s is at number four and it needs no introduction. It is one of the oldest surviving and thriving brands. It recently celebrated its 150th anniversary. Levi’s is committed to reducing its water usage and carbon footprint. It has implemented water-saving techniques and has launched a line of jeans made with recycled water. The brand also uses sustainable materials such as organic cotton and recycled polyester.

Stella McCartney brand comes at number five its apparel is designed by Stella McCartney, (born September 13, 1971, in London, England), a British fashion designer known primarily for her fur-free and leather-free apparel as well as for her celebrity-studded clientele. Adidas by Stella McCartney is owned by Adidas Group.

Stella McCartney is known for her commitment to sustainability, using eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton, recycled polyester, and vegan leather. The brand also has a circular program that allows customers to return their old clothing to be recycled into new items.

It’s simply impossible to discuss sustainable luxury fashion without mentioning one of the movement’s original trailblazers: Stella McCartney. Since launching her eponymous label in 2001, McCartney has seamlessly blended her trend-focused designs with eco-friendly materials.
