In January 2025, the United States saw a significant increase in textiles and apparel imports, which surged by 16.
6% year-on-year, reaching a total value of $9.5 billion. This growth highlights the ongoing demand for clothing and textile products, with China and Vietnam remaining the leading suppliers to the US market.
The apparel sector was a key driver, contributing to the overall rise in imports.
Other notable suppliers included Bangladesh, India, and Jordan, which experienced substantial gains in their export volumes to the US.
However, imports from countries like Turkey, Mexico, and South Korea saw a decline.
Despite these fluctuations, the growth in imports reflects the resilience of the US textile and apparel industry, driven by strong consumer demand and ongoing shifts in global trade patterns.
